Eco friendly tea production benefits smallholders

The Neluwa-Medagama and Halwitigala smallholder tea factories in Hiniduma Pattu offer over 150,000 kilograms of made tea monthly to the Colombo Tea Auction. Prices obtained have averaged upper limits regularly.

These two factories have contributed over 50% crop income for the company.

The factories are well maintained and process quality tea under hygienic conditions.

Over 3,000 smallhodlers supply green leaf to these two factories who use national systems to control pests and they also use eco-friendly methods in crop production. The recorded price increases have benefited smallholders.
