Yamaha rides high

Associated Motorways Group (AMW) together with Yamaha Motor Company (YMC) organized and carried out a "Yamaha Motorcycle Racing School" from September 23 to the 25 of at the Pannala International race circuit.

This training was carried out just prior to the Pannala race. The participants of this racing school were instructed on the finer points of racing by a team of japanese experts led by world famous GP rider Mr. Osamu Miyazaki and included Mr. Iwao and Mr. Ookawara two very experienced instructors from Yamaha Motor Company Japan.

The goal of Associated Motorways Group and Yamaha Motor Company is two fold. One is to improve the skills of Sri Lankan racing riders by providing them with top class international instructors allowing them the opportunity to fully develop their skills and thereby enjoy motorcycle racing to the fullest. They are promoting the new class (4 stroke upto 125 cc) very actively.

As in other parts of the world, Yamaha is determined to work with its Sri Lankan partner AMW to promote the spread of motorcycles especially through racing activities. The main activities are the introduction of the new model Libero in racing and simultaneous start of sponsoring - Organizing YRS (Yamaha Racing School)

The Libero is an imported model with a 4-stroke, 106cc engine built by YMI (Yamaha Motor India Pvt. Ltd., 100% YMC subsidiary). AMW will use this model to begin racing sponsorship and promote motor sports not only among motorcycle users but the public as well.

YRS is a unique school event program developed by Yamaha Motor that has now continued a successful history of over thirty years of events in many regions of the world, from Europe and North America to Asia and Africa. With its proven curriculum, this program uses sport riding instruction as a means to communicate the experience the excitement and satisfaction Yamaha calls Kando.

For this YRS program YMC's instructor Kazutoshi Iwao, who has many years of experience teaching all around the world, served as overall coordinator and was joined by one of Japan's top road-race riders, Osamu Miyazaki, who served as head instructor.

Participants learned the fundamentals of safe riding practices, bike inspection methods and some of the important techniques of riding on the race course.
