Ceylon College of Physicians annual academic sessions

The 36th annual academic sessions of the Ceylon College of Physicians will be held at The Colombo Plaza from 2nd to the 4th of October.

The Ceylon College of Physicians (established by an Act of Parliament in 1971) is the academic grouping of all the specialist physicians, cardiologists, nephrologists, gastroenterologists, neurologists, theumatologists and endocrinologists working in the state sector as well as in the private sector in the country.

Dr. M. Sarath Gamini De Silva, consultant physician of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, is the current president.

This year's sessions will be addressed by a distinguished faculty from overseas as well as from Sri Lanka.

They include Dr. Niall Finlayson, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Prof Gavin Becker and Prof David Barnes from Australia, Professors Neil Barnes Nick Boon, Andrew Morris, Andrew Purcell Drs Nick Beeching, Jeremy Farrar, V. Vasanthakumar and Janet Hemmingway of the U.K. Drs. A. Ramachandran and V Jha will be the speakers from India. Former Professors of Medicine and Pharmacology in Sri Lanka currently working aborad like Drs. N. Sree Haran, J. Hettiarachchi, Shanthi Mendis and Chrisantha Weerasuriya will also address the meeting. The local faculty includes, Prof. Carlo Fonseka, Drs. D. V. J. Harischandra, Ruvan Ekanayaka, Anula Wijesundera, Chula Herath, Prof. Saroj Jayasinghe, Prof. P. L. Ariyananda, Drs. Palitha Abeykoon and Mahen Wijesooriya.
