Train derails, four injured

by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi

Four persons were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital last evening following a train derailment on the coastal line near the Slave Island railway station.

The train left Colombo Fort around 5.20 p.m. and derailed at Slave Island.

The cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained, a railway official said.

A hospital spoke- sman said the four injured persons are out of danger.

Sources said there were only a few trains operating on the coastal line due to the rail strike and the particular train was running under army protection.
