He was speaking at the opening ceremony of a branch of Commercial Bank at Nelliyaddy, Point Pedro, S. K. Gunasinham, Branch Manager, presided. Amarasuriya said that the Commercial Bank had a well-trained competent and dedicated staff who placed service first before self. Courtesy is their forte in winning the appreciation of the customers. The Deputy Chairman Selvam Mather said that the Commercial Bank had been functioning for well over 34 years and acquired a name internationally for its prompt service. In the national level, we hold the first place for our services and successful human relationship with the public. The bank was established in 1972. Like the people of Jaffna, it has swum against many close currents and faced the vicissitudes of life and emerged as the champion. He said that at a time when the banking service has become indispensable for development and rehabilitation of the displaced persons, the Commercial Bank has willingly come forward to help the affected and the distressed in their rehabilitation. To involve the people in economic development, opening of branches at Chunnakam and Nelliyaddy has become imperative. The farmers, fishermen and cottage industrialists are given the opportunity of availing the various easy term loans to develop their trades and vocation. |
