by Colombo East Group Corr. A special religious program was conducted at Vijayarama Vihara, Wellawatte to transfer merit on the late Agga Maha Pandita, Ven. Madihe Pannaseeha Mahanayaka Thera, President of the Lanka Amarapura Sangha Sabha last Friday. The Dhamma School Students of Vijayarama, the Dayaka Sabha and the public in that part of Wellawatte organised and conducted Atavisi Buddha pooja and Bodhi pooja. At the end of this special religious program Ven. Ahangama Ananda Nayaka Thera addressing the large gathering present said that the late Pannaseeha Mahanayake was a Bodhisatva, because he was a true embodiment of such qualities. He showed by practice loving kindness to all beings. He did not discriminate against any person or community in Lanka or outside. in all possible ways he helped children, adults and the old. He travelled all over the country to relieve people of their disadvantages. Never did he harbour any illwill or animosity towards anybody. He extended compassion to all. How much the people of Lanka appreciated his high religious qualities was demonstrated by the unprecedented number of mourners who gathered at the Independence Square at his funeral. Leading dignitaries of all religions were there to pay their last respects to him. Although he was a staunch and committed Buddhist he never discriminated against other religions, concluded Ven. Ananda. |
