Sisil de Silva - an outstanding cricketer Sisil de Silva of St. Benedict's College was the runner up in the Observer - Bata most popular schoolboy cricketer of the year contest held recently. Sisil de Silva represented St. Benedict's College first eleven team with distinction in last years Elephant Lemonade Cup inter school cricket tournament. He started his career at the age of 12 where he represented the College under 13 side in the division two tournament for two years. He also represented the under 15 team in the division one tournament for two years while being the vice captain in 1999. He then turned out for the under 17 team for two more years before joining the under 19 first eleven side in the same year. Sisil de Silva had the credit of turning out for Old Bens SC in the BCCSL division three cricket tournament while still at school and later represented Dehiwela Youth Cricket Club in 2001-2002. He was also a member at the Jayantha Seneviratne School of Cricket at Bloomfield and is presently attached to the Reid Avenue Club in the division three cricket squad. (C.D). |
