Sarasavi-United clash in Mayor's cup final

Arch rivals Sarasavi S.C., Bandaranayakapura and United S.C. Obeysekarapura will meet in the Mayor's Cup Finals once again after two years on September 27. at Kotte Sports Complex, Welikada, at 4.00 p.m.

In the 2000/2001, Mayor's cup football champions United S.C. Obeysekarapura defeated Sarasavi S.C., Bandaranayakapura 1-0 to carry away the trophy and cash giving them time to heal their wounded prestige to clash once again in the years to come. This year both teams proved their ability to gain precedence over other teams by displaying their skills and technique and qualify to meet once again.

17 teams from Kotte, Kolonnawa, Kaduwela and Maharagama electorates vied for the prestigious Mayor's Cup and cash prize of Rs. 25,000 to the winner and Rs. 15,000 for the Runner-up was given by Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Council. In the semi final United S.C., Obeysekarapura defeated Battaramulla S.C. by 5-0, Sarasavi S.C, Bandaranayakapura . defeated Yonex S.C. by 6-0.
