Central Province entrepreneurs day in Kandy

The trade chambers of the Central Province will team up to present an "Entrepreneurs Day" on Sunday, September 28 in Kandy in a bid to showcase the central region's potential for hosting future business and economic activity.

The Entrepreneurs' Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kingswood College premises.

The event is a joint undertaking by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Central Province (CCICP), Central Province Women's Chamber of Small Industries and Commerce (CPWCIC) and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), which supports economic development activity in the central region utilizing funds from the Federal Republic of Germany.

The GTZ-supported Rural Banking Innovations Project (RBIP) and the Enterprise Service Systems Promotion Project (ESSP) are assisting in organising the Entrepreneurs' Day.

According to the organisers, the event provides a business platform for participating service providers and government institutions mainly from the Central Province. The event gives service providers an excellent opportunity to offer their products and services to a broad number of potential customers.

The Central Province's entrepreneurs can benefit by seeking direct advice to a broad number of topics including management, marketing, finance, quality management, technology and raw material supply. Entrepreneurs will be able to establish long-term business contacts with service providers and have the chance to contact and exchange ideas with other entrepreneurs of the region. In addition, entrepreneurs will have the possibility to discuss matters such as taxes and labour law regulations related to their businesses, the organisers said.

Among those due to address the entrepreneurs at the event are: Tissa Attanayake, Minister of Central Region Development; Ranjit Fernando, Secretary, Ministry of Enterprise Development, Industrial Policy & Investment Promotion, Sam Rahubadda, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Policy Development and Implementation and Roland Steurer, GTZ's country director.
