by Nadira Gunatilleke The thirty first mobile service organised by the Social Welfare Ministry was held in the Padaviya Divisional Secretariat division recently. This is the first program of a series of mobile services to be conducted by the ministry covering all the border villages, a Social Welfare Ministry spokesman said. Sewing machines were provided to several war victims during the mobile service. Wheelchairs, clutches, hearing aids, and several other equipment were distributed among disabled persons in the area. Several disabled persons were given a housing allowance of Rs. 5,000. Water pumps were distributed among the farming organisations. Educational equipment kits each worth Rs.1,000 were distributed among needy school children. Mrs. Seetha Samaraweera, Social Welfare Ministry Additional Secretary W. N. W. Soysa, Ministry Senior Assistant Secretary Basil Fernando and several other officials and officials from the Padaviya Divisional Secretariat were present. |
