Pakistani delegation comes to India for candlelight ceremony WAGAH, India, Friday (AFP) A delegation of 20 Pakistani nationals, including 12 parliamentarians, crossed over from the Wagah border post Thursday to the Indian side to take part in a candle-lighting ceremony for peace. "Kashmir is the key issue and the main reason of discord between the two nations, which caused deadlock. But it could be thrashed out through bilateral parleys in peaceful and trustful atmosphere," leader of the delegation, Aziz Hussian said. "We do not want war, but peace. Both the nations are living under the same sky, sharing water from the same sources and have a common culture." The delegation was given a warm welcome by Indian MP Kuldip Nayyar and other officials who will light candles at midnight Thursday and pray for peace between the two countries. Several Indian and Pakistani delegations have visited each other's countries in the last four months since a peace initiative was launched by the political leadership. Relations between the common people from India and Pakistan have been improving, giving impetus to the possibility of a full-scale dialogue between their political leaders. |
