Programme for Kandy Esala Perahera - 2003

Monday 11th August - The perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 9.05 p.m. facing North and proceed along Dalada Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Kande Veediya, D. S. Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa along Maligawa Chaturastraya.

The same night the Devale Peraheras will join the Dalada Maligawa Perahera at 1.48 a.m. Tuesday 12th August, 2003 and facing North will proceed along Dalada Veediya, D. S. Senanayake Veediya to the Gedige Viharaya and after depositing the Sacred Relic Casket there, will return to Devales. The Devale Peraheras will then, before dawn, on 12th August, 2003 proceed along Peradeniya Road to the Getambe Thota for the Water Cutting (Diya Kapana) Mangallaya. There the Devale Peraheras will return along the same road to Ganadevi Kovila, Katukelle, where the customary ceremonies will be performed.
