by Rashomi Silva reporting from Beijing, China Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mrs. Maithree Wickremesinghe arrived in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China yesterday, after a short official tour in Siamen. The Prime Minister was welcomed by the Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The Mayor of Siamen Weng Jin praised Prime Minister Wickremesinghe for his genuine efforts to strengthen the economic and cultural ties between the nations. Mayor Jin also praised the Prime Minister for his bold efforts to bring peace to Sri Lanka. During his short stay in Siamen, Premier Wickremesinghe visited several economic centres in the city. He has said that Siamen had been the door to the open economy and development of China and had expressed his willingness to get their expertise to developSri Lanka's economy. |
