News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | Former MP's Pajero stolen by Ananda Kannangara Four unidentified men armed with revolvers and a kris knife on Thursday stormed into the premises of Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia, Municipal Council Opposition Leader, Kesaralal Gunasekara and got away with his Pajero. At the time of the incident Gunasekera was about to leave the residence to attend a function. Speaking to the Daily News the former Colombo District MP said that the four men arrived at his residence at De Saram Road, Mt. Lavinia around 7.00 am. It was reported that the white Dolphin the gang was believed to have arrived, was parked at the Beach Road while they had fled in the pajero after the incident. Gunasekara also said he lodged a complaint at the Police immediately. Had the police taken immediate action to trace the vehicle which was proceeding along the Galle Road they would have recovered it. "I also brought this matter to the attention of the IGP, DIG Sirisena Herath and also the Interior Minister John Amaratunga," he said. Meanwhile when contacted Mt. Lavinia Police, Crime OIC B.H. Jayasena said that as soon as the complaint was made by Gunasekara, a police team was promptly sent to his residence for a statement and later a special police team was deployed to conduct further investigations. |
