Expo Aviation invests $ 1 m on Fokker F27 Aircraft

by Shirajiv Sirimane

Expo Aviation (Pvt) Ltd, invested US $ one million to purchase a Fokker F27 Aircraft last month for their services to Jaffna.

According to Director, Expo Aviation Seraj Mohamed, funds within the company were utilised for this investment. He said that the main aim in purchasing this aircraft was to cut down their operational costs paid by way of a lease to the Antanov aircraft. "This was also yet another step taken towards achieving the Company's objective of providing a high standard of quality for our passengers."

Mohamed said that they are now operating on a 96% seat occupancy and added that this positive factor too prompted them for this investment. "We have confidence in the future as well and have more plans which include operating to other destinations locally and internationally."

"This Fokker aircraft which is a 50-seater is manufactured in Holland and is powered by Rolls Royce engines. It has ample leg space with roof rack for cabin luggage and provides extra comfort to its discerning passengers."

The Director said that with the introduction of this aircraft they now have the capacity even to operate to other countries. "We are operating nine flights per week."

He said that this aircraft would be operating with an Indonesian crew at the controls and by the end of September they are hoping to introduce a 100% Sri Lankan crew.

He said that the airline has an excellent record as a safe and reliable airline and they intend to maintain and build upon that record. "Throughout our upgrading process, flight and passenger safety will continue to be our number one priority."

Mohamed said that their exclusive select class cabin and service has been specially designed to ensure maximum comfort and value for money.

"ExpoAir is also one of the 27 members of the Nexus Loyalty Program and the points are endless and you spend less. Other companies in this program include Odel, Keels Super, Dialog GSM, Abans, Keells Resort Hotels, Hilton Colombo and the Parfumerie."
