Rotax completes 40 years' service to the nation

Rotax Ltd, importers and distributors of electrical equipment completed 40 years' of service to the nation this year.

Having started in 1963 by its founder chairman John Roche, it was then known as Maurice Roche Limited. "The company was founded on strong principles of satisfying customer needs with high quality electrical equipment," a company spokesman said. Beginning as a supplier of quality electrical equipment to the public and private sector industries and commerce, the company over the years has grown to be a market leader in providing reliable solutions for a multitude of electrical problems faced by the industries and commerce.

With the liberalisation of the economy the country entered a new era with development plans and mega projects and this opened opportunities to new companies for fulfilling the needs of high quality technologically advanced electrical equipment needed to keep pace with the new progress and development in the country.

The company successfully positioned itself in this new environment and faced the challenge of meeting the demands for innovative products and solutions to match the accelerated industrial developments such as Mahaweli scheme and other prestigious projects. We literally brightened up these projects with technologically superior lighting solutions, he said.

This period was a turning point in the history of Rotax as the company moved forward from being a product-oriented company into a solution-oriented market driven corporate leader. The company from then onwards displayed a total commitment to innovative solutions on par with global trends with a long-term view of contributing to such projects with reliability. In the electrical industry quality is not an option but a necessity.

Unprotected and poorly controlled electric power can become a catastrophe in its devastation of property and life.
