Global tea industry players meet in Colombo Major players in the global tea industry will meet at the Colombo Plaza Hotel to participate in the International Tea Convention that is one of the highlights of the series of tea related events taking place in Sri Lanka from August 20 to 22. This mega event in the global tea calendar is being organised by the Colombo Tea Traders' Association (CTTA), a 108-year Industry body, in association with the Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Sri Lanka Tea Cluster. The main objective of this Convention is to provide an opportunity for those in the tea industry to gain new insights on being competitive in the global tea markets and discover how tea is positioning itself in the 21st century. Tea industrialists realise that competitiveness is the key to survival. Tea is just one of many beverages competing for what is described as "a share of throat". Product diversification and specialisation are vital in advancing its position in the global contest for precedence. The theme "DiversiTEA in SpecialiTEA" has been selected to focus on diversification and specialisation, the tools that give tea a competitive edge. Eminent personalities in the global tea trade and the international business arena are billed to make presentations at the convention. |
