Wushu Judges leave for India For the first time in Wushu history of Sri Lanka, two of its International Wushu Judges and Referees, Manel Dharmakeerthie and Mahesh Vitharana Pathirana are invited to head judging in India's National Wushu Championship. The leading country in the South Asian Wushu Federation, India has invited these two IWUF qualified judges for the Sanshou (Combat Events) and Taolu (Routine Events) at the 12th Indian National Wushu Championship to be held in Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tami Nadu from 01st to 05th August 2003. A highly regarded Wushu Promoter in South Asia, Manel Dharmakeerthi, is the Secretary of the Interim Committee of WFSL was elected to the post of Secretary General of the South Asian Wushu Federation at the Congress held in New Delhi last March. He is the only Sri Lankan Wushu International Judge invited by the Technical Committee of the World Governing body, International Wushu Federation (IWUF) to serve as a judge in the first ever Sanshou World Cup held in Shanghai, China last year. Vitharanapathirana is a member of the selection committee of WFSL is the only Sri Lankan International Taolu Judge and also the only Sri Lankan Judge who has officiated in an Asian Wushu Championship. |
