Lanka's precious stones to glitter at Facets 2003 The world's most colourful collection of renowned Sri Lankan precious stones will glitter at the Facets 2003 themed 'Blue and more-direct from the source' to be held from September 8 to 10 at the Colombo Hilton. The gem and jewellery exhibition will promote the concept 'Direct from the Source' as Sri Lanka is the source for real and genuine Blue Sapphires. The year 2003 has been declared the Year of the Blue Sapphire in Japan and with the focus on blue Sapphires Facets 2003 will have on display the most colourful collection of precious stones ever for the delight of visitors from abroad who will be attending this exhibition. Facets 2003 will provide opportunities for local gem and jewellery merchants to interact with their counterparts from foreign countries and learn about the advancements in the art and craft of gem cutting, gem polishing and jewellery making. Apart from precious stones, Facets 2003 will also showcase a wide spectrum of contemporary jewellery creatively designed by experts in this field. The host country which has a highly developed and thriving industry of manufactured jewellery of world standard for the export market will make use of this opportunity to display to the world, the ingenuity and master craftsmanship of Sri Lankans. |
