The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) which is in the forefront of sponsoring sports activities in the country broke new ground when the 'Daily News', the leading English daily newspaper undertook to sponsor Ragama Cricket Club for the 2003-04 season.

In the past few seasons Ragama CC has made vast strides in the local cricket scene and at present play in the country's Premier cricket tournament. As an incentive to improve their cricket 'Daily News' is sponsoring the club for Rs. 500,000 with further emoluments of Rs. 300,000 on offer for outstanding achievements during the season.
