Family killed in road accident

A father, mother and their eight-year-old son were killed on the spot when their motorcycle collided with a speeding lorry near Pothupitiya, Wadduwa on the Galle road yesterday.

The deceased are A. Hemashantha, an employee of the glass factory, his wife Gnanawathi and their son Thilak. The bodies are lying at the Panadura Base Hospital. The inquest will be held today.

The driver of the lorry is in custody of the Panadura Police. The trio were on their way to attend a funeral of a relative when the tragedy hit them, police said.
