Senkadagala group correspondent

The Sri Lanka India Cultural Association of the Central Province recently held the annual Kalyana Ranga 2003 at the Hindu Cultural Centre Auditorium, Peradeniya Road, Kandy. The Chief Guest A. K. Malhotra, Assistant High Commissioner for India in Kandy speaking at the function said, the performances were very colourful and of a very high order. He congratulated SLICA for organising this event which fosters goodwill and understanding between the people of these two countries.

Malhotra said, as a further impetus to cement the cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka he has initiated the setting up of a Cultural Centre at the High Commission premises. He said, already a library is functioning and very soon other programmes like screening of weekly films, organising talks etc., would be organised by a Cultural Committee he has appointed.

Madam Anita Malhotra gave away the awards, certificates and other prizes to all participants.

The vote of thanks was proposed by C. Nadarajah, Hony. Secretary, Kalyana SLICA.
