Colombo, July 18, (Lankapuvath) - A programme is being implemented to promote tourism and business activities between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia. The Sri Lankan ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Ibrahim Saeed Anser, told Lankapuvath as part of the programme, a propaganda campaign on Sri Lanka's tourism industry has commenced in Saudi Arabia. Accordingly, newspapers carry reports on the Island's tourism field in the Arabic language. The envoy added that Saudi newspaper editors are scheduled to engage in a tour in Sri Lanka shortly. A programme is also under way to convince the leading business firms in Saudi Arabia of the advantages of investing in Sri Lanka. One Saudi firm has already entered into an agreement with the Urban Development Authority in this regard. Several other firms are engaged in discussions with the Sri Lanka Board of Investment.Ambassador Anser added that the Saudi foreign Minister would arrive in Sri Lanka next September. He will sign an agreement on tourism and business activities. Around one hundred Saudi Arabians visit Sri Lanka each month. |
