Acer Tablet PC from Metropolitan

Metropolitan Computers [Pvt] Ltd., sole distributors for Acer in Sri Lanka launched the Acer Tablet PC on Friday. Acer which was voted the top brand in Asia in the computer category is a Readers Digest Superbrand Hall of Fame winner for the year 2003.

Metropolitan Computers who have been representing Acer in Sri Lanka since 1988, markets Acers Desktop Computers, Note Book Computers and Servers.

In Sri Lanka for the launch of the Tablet PC was Acers Senior Major Account Manager, Ms May Wong. Designed with full consideration of peoples most natural and practical computing needs, the Acer TravelMate C110 revolutionises mobile computing by uniting the notebook PC of today with the tablet computer of tomorrow Wong said.

Its features incorporate ultra portability enabling anytime anywhere work, a convertible notebook with a convertible hinge which allows the notebook screen to swivel up to 180 degrees away from the user as well as the ability to fold back into a handy Tablet PC with a large slate screen for easy writing.

The Tablet PC allows for multiple methods of natural input which enables the user to write by hand, convert writing into typewritten text, voice recognition which allows for operation using spoken commands whilst converting speech into text, together with keyboard typing and touchpad for familiar traditional data input. The Tablet PC is also equipped with SmartCard security thus giving increased control over confidential information during e-commerce transactions and other online activities, as well as Password protection preventing unauthorised access to files and programs.

The Acer Tablet PC comes with a one year International Travellers Warranty giving users the assurance that their most valued business tool is covered no matter where work takes them. The Tablet PC weigh a kilo and a half making it easy to carry around, whilst looking sleek and sophisticated.

The Acer TravelMate C110 has won many awards including, the 2002 Intel Innovative PC Design Award, the 2002 Computex Taipei Best of Computex Award, as well as the 2002 Best of VARVision Award Systems/ Peripherals.

Metropolitan Computers Director/CEO Niranjan De Silva said that they expected the Acer Tablet PC to have a tremendous demand and they expected high sales of this novel business tool, especially as it was very competitively priced.
