Inquest into Gunadasa Kapuge's death : Notice issued on police to produce witnesses

by Sandasen Marasinghe

Additional City Coroner M. Ashroff Rumy issued notice on the police officers of the Katunayake Police to produce the witnesses for the inquest to be held in connection with the death of popular singer Gunadasa Kapuge, on July 16.

The witnesses Kariyakarawage Joseph Peter, the driver of the airport bus in which Kapuge met with the accident and officers of SriLankan Air Lines and the Airport and Aviation Authority are to be produced before the Additional City Coroner.

H. Manjula Hapuarachchi, the Airport Manager of Czech Air Lines in Sri Lanka, earlier said that they were not responsible for any incident involving passengers. Their handling agent in Sri Lanka is the SriLankan Air Lines and they had paid for that purpose.

Witness further said that he was informed of the incident by a member of SriLankan Air Lines on the day in question but he did not get involved since it was not his responsibility.
