DPMC Electronics in name change DPMC Electronics (Pvt) Ltd, a member of the David Peiris Group will change its name to David Peiris Information Technologies (Pvt) Ltd next week. The reason for the name change is for the company to be identified with the David Peiris Group whose image has been synonymous with the service sector and the legal process has been completed, the company's General Manager Clehan Pulle told the Daily News. The vision of the company was to diversify into areas in which it was familiar with from the two initial areas that the company was incorporated for which was IT and financial services. The company commenced the assembly of electronic parts in 1997 and later moved to IT and the name change is a consolidation of that process, he said.DPMC's speciality is that it has an islandwide frame relay network of 1,200 locations and a software development team which has the capability of electronically integrating branch offices and multinationals such as Shell, Baurs, Unilever, Bata, Lanka Orix Leasing and local banks such as Nations Trust and People's Bank have been the beneficiaries of this. The company also has an international gateway which provides international data voice services which have been provided to the Ministry of Finance and the Colombo Representative Office of the Asian Development Bank. The company also manages IT services for corporates similar to IBM and Hewlett Packard in developed countries, he said. (RL) |
