Thakshila a budding swimmer

Thakshila Daluwatte of Sri Sumangala Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Panadura brought honour and fame to her school winning the 2 k.m. Women's Open Sea Swim at the Sandy Bay, Trincomalee conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy Sports Board and National Amateur Aquatic Sports Union recently.

She won the 400 metres (Free style) 200 metres (Free style) 100 metres (Free style); and 4 X 50 m at the National Sports Festival 2003 Inter Divisional Swimming meet of Kalutara District, conducted by Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry.

This year she became the Best Swimmer (under 17) in Inter House swimming meet of Sri Sumangala BMV winning 20 m, 4 X 25 relay and 50 metres events.

This budding Swimmer Thakshila is ranked 10th in the NAASU rankings in 800 metres, 400 metres, and 200 metres (Free style) events. Thakshila is being trained by Bharathapriya Lenora of Panadura Aquatic Club, is receiving fullest support and assistance from Sri Sumangala Balika Principal Mrs. Chandrani Situge, Devika Gunasekera teacher in charge, Rohini Hettiarachchi and Thisaru Perera to further her sports talent.
