Netballers in Jamaica KINGSTON. Jamaica. The Sri Lankan netball team arrived here in Jamaica on Monday confident of putting up a good performance in the 11th World championships starts at the Jamaica indoor stadium on Thursday. The Sri Lankan team who are residing at the Hilton Hotel will take on the Kayman Islands in their opening fixture and will meet Samoa in their second game of the tournament scheduled for Friday. The team was welcomed at the Norton airport by two Sri Lankan expatriates Anura Jayatilleke and Sudath Wimalaratne. Sri Lankan team coach Yasa Ramachandra said that the girls are determined to win both matches which will earn them a place in the second round of the tournament. She also said the teams performance in the only warm up match against the USA national team was encouraging and are confident of winning the opening game of the tournament. All 24 teams participating in the World championships have already arrived in Jamaica with New Zealand, Australia, England and South as the strong contenders for the title. |
