by Sumith Kadawathage reporting from London The Commonwealth Trade Conference began at the London University on Monday morning and Sri Lanka was represented by the Minister of Trade and Commerce Ravi Karunanayake. The Minister addressing the Conference said that the forthcoming World Trade Ministers' Conference conducted by the World Trade Organisation in the city of Cancun would be of tremendous importance as it could iron out many matters relating to trade specially between the developed and the developing countries. He said that the Commonwealth states should prepare and make their agenda for the Cancun Conference in London. The Acting High Commissioner in London Mrs. Kshenuka Seneviratne, Permanent representative to the WTO K. J. Weerasinghe and First Secretary (Trade) D. W. Jinadasa also attended this event.
