by Sarath Malalasekera The Thalangama Police is conducting investigations into the attack on the house of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake in the early hours on Tuesday. Investigations directed by Western Province South DIG K.P.P. Pathirana revealed that an unknown gunman had opened fire at the Minister's house and had escaped injuring a security guard who was on duty. Minister Ravi Karunanayake was away in London at the time of the incident, the Thalangama Police said. A special police team deployed by DIG Pathirana is conducting investigations to ascertain whether this is a politically motivated or a personal attack. No arrests have been made in connection with the attack yet, the officials said. Inspector Amit Gunaratne, OIC, Thalangama Police station and Inspector Jayaweera OIC, CDB are assisting the investigations. |
