Colombo July 06 (Lankapuvath) the Sri Lanka Rupavahini corporation has won the international award for the best news contribution in the Asia pacific region during the period 2002-2003. The award was presented to the corporation at the convention of the Asia pacific broadcasting union held in Iran recently. The award has been presented for the rupavahini corporation's news converge of the flood situation in Sri Lanka recently, SLRC sources said. This is said to be the highest award for news reportage won by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation overcoming all countries including China, India, Singapore and Japan sending Sri Lankan news over satellite to other countries in the region. The Asia visionnews exchange network pointed out that this news coverage is of the distinguished category. The I.R.I.B. television of Iran won the joint award for the best news contribution in 2002-2003. Iran became the joint recipient of this award for the skills shown in reporting the Iraq war. |
