President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, in a Cabinet Memorandum has requested the Cabinet of Ministers to take a clear and firm decision, that the free grant -3 acre land, allocated to the Vijaya Kumaratunga Memorial Hospital, Seeduwa will not be assigned or alienated to any other party, the Presidential Secretariat said. He said "The ambiguous manner in which the Economic Policy Committee of the Cabinet determination is recorded, in relation to a memorandum by the Western Province Regional Development Minister, has led her to make this request. Earlier the Economic policy Committee of the Cabinet has approved the allocation of a neighbouring land to Ceylon Agro Industries Ltd on 60 year lease basis. "The President requests the Cabinet in her memorandum, to arrive at a clear decision that the block of land allocated to Vijaya Kumaratunga Memorial Hospital be not included in the allocation of land to the Ceylon Agro Industries Ltd or assign it to any other party. She also draws attention of the Cabinet in the importance of making available the decisions of the Cabinet Sub-committees to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval before intimating the relevant decisions to respective institutions". |
