Wickramaratne was honoured at the recently held INGRIN awards ceremony and presented with a specially designed plaque as a tribute for his enormous contribution to the printing and graphic industry. The brainchild of Kingsley T. Wickramaratne, the INGRIN Institute of Printing & Graphics was set up in collaboration with INGRIN Foundation of the Netherlands during his tenure as Minister of International Commerce Trade and Food. His concept was to, bring printing and graphics advertising and the packaging industry under one umbrella through means of Information Technology as a tool. In recognizing IT as an imperative to the effectiveness and efficiency in the working of the public sector, Mr. Wickramaratne initiated the popular Cyber Trader, the e-business centre at the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, providing a portal particularly to small and medium scale entrepreneurs. Likewise to meet the growing need for IT professionals, he spearhead the establishment of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology with its main campus located in Malabe. During its 5-years span of operations, the INGRIN Institute of Printing and Graphic through its portfolio of Diploma and certificate programmes including workshops, Seminars & Scholarships for training in the Netherlands has played a significant role in improving the standards of the printing and communication industry in Sri Lanka. Dr. Robert E. Van Weldam - Director/Founder of INGRIN, the Netherlands, Ravi Karunayake - Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Dr. Wickrema Weerasooriya, Advisor to the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Training Mayantha Dissanayake, Chairman, INGRIN, Ananda E. Wickramaratne, Managing Director, INGRIN were among the other distinguished persons present at the Awards Ceremony held at the BMICH.
