Arms seized from house belonging to M.K. Ranjith's relative

A cache of arms was seized and three suspects taken into custody from a house in Hakmana which belongs to a close relative of assassinated Provincial Minister M.K. Ranjith alias Chandi Malli, by a group of police officers from the Investigation Unit of the Matara police.

The arms seized included 12 shot-guns, a locally made gun (Galkatas), a sword and about 35 live bullets.

The raid was carried out by a team of police officers led by Sub-Inspector Jagath Nanda Cooray.

The Magistrate ordered that one suspect be remanded till July 11 while the other two suspects were remanded till today.
