Indian deputy PM criticises US aid package for Pakistan NEW DELHI, Friday (AFP)-India's Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani Thursday obliquely criticised the United States' three-billion-dollar aid package for Pakistan, which New Delhi says sponsors militants in Kashmir. "You have declared yourself the leader of the global coalition against terrorism. Then, why do you give economic aid and arms to those who sponsor and abet terrorism?" Advani said, without mentioning either country. "This, they (the people of India) do not understand." Advani urged the United States to show greater sensitivity to the people of India and its government, which accuses Pakistan of backing separatist Muslim militants fighting Indian rule in disputed Kashmir. |
