Shell Gas files petition against Mundo in SC

by Wasantha Ramanayake

The Shell Gas Company filed a Special Leave Application before the Supreme Court seeking to set aside the Court of Appeal order that vacated the interim order restraining the Mundo Gas Company from accepting empty Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders bearing any trademark for filling/refilling purposes.

Petitioner-appellant Shell Company cited the Consumer Affairs Authority, its Chairman R.I. Wimalasena, Laugfs Lanka Gas (Pvt) Ltd. and Mundogas Lanka (Private) Ltd. as respondents.

Shell sought to set aside the order of the Court of Appeal and a stay order staying the operation of the directives published in the Gazette dated May 2, enabling gas companies to fill/refill cylinders of any make.

Sudath Perera Associates filed the application on behalf of Shell Company.
