Women's Cricket in safe hands - Sports Minister At a simple ceremony where he was the chief guest, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Johnstan Fernando said that women's cricket in Sri Lanka is in safe hands of the President of the Women's Cricket Association of Sri Lanka, Gwen Herat who with dedication and determination has brought it to international standards overcoming the political repression she had to face from the previous regime. The Indians are here to play six 50 limited over matches in Colombo and Moratuwa. This is a very creditable feat in such short time and it was Mrs. Herat's perseverance that put Sri Lanka in the world map of women's cricket. I must also congratulate SINGER SRI LANKA for being their official sponsor that helped WCASL to success.'
