by Sandasen Marasinghe An art competition on the theme of 'Sri Lanka-Thailand Relations' among school children organised by the Sri Lanka-Thailand Society will be held at the end of July. The competition hopes to educate school children of the long standing bilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and Thailand. An essay competition was held earlier. The competition will be held under three age groups. Age groups between 6-8 years and 8-12 years should draw the pictures using crayons on drawing paper 12",16". The medium of the age group between 12 and 16 years should be water colour on drawing paper 12",16". Children of the members of the executive committee of the Sri Lanka-Thailand Society are not eligible to enter. The closing date of the entries will be on July 18. The prizes and the certificates will be awarded at a ceremony to be held on August 30. The drawings should be forwarded to the secretary, Upali S. Jayasekara, P 7, Govt. Flats, Bambalapitiya, Colombo 4. Entries could also be handed over at the above address. The principals have to certify the age and confirm that the drawing is that of the student named and the entries without such certification will not be considered for the purposes of the competition. The name and the address of the student should appear on the reverse of the drawing preferably on a slip of paper pasted. The first three placings in each age group will be awarded cash prizes and certificates while 4th to 13th awarded merit certificates. In addition prizes will also be awarded to the schools from which the first three winners in each age group come from. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges who are specialised in the field of whom the decision will be the final. |
