CEAT ventures into radials market with high-performance Spider

Tyre maker CEAT has ventured into the competitive and highly quality-sensitive radial tyre market in Sri Lanka, opening new vistas for this top player in the commercial tyre business.

A comprehensive range of CEAT radials manufactured in Europe under the Spider sub brand will be distributed and marketed here by CEAT, providing a value-for-money proposition for medium and high powered cars and vans, the company said.

Manufactured at an ultra modern plant in Turkey with technology derived from advanced research and state-of-the-art production processes, the CEAT Spider range comprises 12 popular sizes of tyres for leading Japanese and European cars, a CEAT spokesman said. Among the features attributed to the new range are an excellent resistance to aquaplaning (the sliding movement that takes place when a vehicle encounters a body of water on the road) on the straights and corners, effective noise reducing sipes for enhanced driving comfort, greater mileage and an innovative sidewall design that give the tyres an elegant look.

The CEAT Spider is a high performance tyre designed to fit most models of Japanese cars and vans as well as on European cars such as BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Volvo, the spokesman said.

He said CEAT, the only ISO 9002 certified pneumatic tyre manufacturer in Sri Lanka, was confident that its proven expertise and reputation in manufacturing world-class tyres for the demanding commercial and industrial vehicle segment, would lend credibility to its initiative to serve the radials market. CEAT's policy of providing value-for-money through quality that is consistently above industry standards, will be further reinforced by the CEAT Spider range, the spokesman said.

CEAT manufactures and markets an extensive range of commercial and industrial tyres, including tyres for light trucks, trucks, buses, forklifts and heavy vehicles such as payloaders, graders and backhoe loaders. The company commenced operations in Sri Lanka in 1993, and is the market leader in many of the segments it serves.
