Lankans looking to win three 'golds' in Manila Ranjeeva Seneviratne reporting from Bangkok Bangkok, Thailand, Friday, Sri Lanka's Athletes will leave for Manila tomorrow to compete in the final leg of the Asian Athletic Grand Prix on June 9 (Monday) where they will be hoping to win at least three gold medals. K.V. Damayanthi Darsha who won the gold in the women's 400 meters with a time of 52.20 seconds is expected to maintain her supremacy by winning the event in Manila while Sugath Tillekeratne who clinched the gold in the men's 400 metres by clocking 46.66 seconds will fight it out with compatriot Rohan Pradeep Kumara for the gold in Manila with the latter having won the event in Hyderabad and Colombo. Sprint Queen Susanthika Jayasinghe who lost to Khubbieva Guzel of Uzbekistan in a photo finish should make amends for it by winning the gold in Manila which would enable her to win prize money to the value of US dollars 9000 having emerged victorious in Hyderabad and Colombo. Hurdler Sriyani Kulawansa should pocket the silver medal in the women's 100 meters hurdles having finished second to Thailand's Threcia Roberts in the first three legs which would give her prize money worth us dollars 5000. |
