LTTE absence in Tokyo a lost opportunity - USAID Deputy Administrator

The visiting Deputy Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Frederick W. Shieck yesterday said in Colombo that the LTTE's absence at the Tokyo Donor Conference would represent a lost opportunity for the people in Sri Lanka, particularly those in the North and the East.

Kadirgamar angry over tone of Bala's letter to Prime Minister

The tone of the letter adopted by the LTTE through its theoretician Anton Balasingham borders on the contemptuous. This is not the way to write or deal with the elected Prime Minister of a sovereign state, Presidential Advisor Lakshman Kadiragamar told the PA weekly media briefing yesterday.

India approves Indo-Lanka ferry service

Press Trust of India, New Delhi, June 5 - Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal to sign a MoU with Sri Lanka on starting a ferry service between Tuticorin and Colombo ports and establish a joint committee to work out modalities for its implementation.
