Sports Minister - Chief Guest at women's cricket

The Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Johnstan Fernando will be the Chief Guest at a simple ceremony when the WCASL 'B' team takes on the visiting Karnataka State Women's XI in the opening match at Moors SC Grounds on June 7.

Hemaka Amarasuriya, President IC of the BCCSL and Chairman Singer will grace the occasion as the guest of honour.

This 50-over limited match will be followed by five more similar matches against the touring Indians throughout the month of June. The next match on the 9th at Moratuwa Stadium have the President of Colts CC, Mathivanan as chief guest when the Colts Ladies play.

Singer Sri Lanka who are the official sponsors of the Women's Cricket Association of Sri Lanka is also sponsoring this series. All matches are played at club level to expose more and more girls to foreign teams. The Karnataka XI is captained by National player, Mamatha Maben.
