Bentota group correspondent The Ayurveda hospitality industry stems from the age-old tradition of herbal treatment of Sri Lanka which has come almost to perfection after centuries of practice. It uses only herbs growing freely in Sri Lanka, and a few common minerals found in abundance. Therefore it is environmentally friendly and sustainable. In addition as the herbs are indigenous there is no leakage of foreign exchange, said the Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourist Board, P. M. Withana. He was speaking at the opening of the "Muthumuni Ayurvedic Resort" at Moragalla, Alutgama recently. Withana also said: "An attractive feature of this Ayurveda Resort is that is will also serve as a "one stop shop" for the health conscious foreign visitors. The Ayurveda Resort also contains a restaurant serving ayurvedic food, a pharmacy dispensing ayurvedic medicine, a modern communication centre with internet facilities, and shopping facilities in an environmentally pleasing location among the mangroves." Tourist Board Chairman Withana also said that this is the ideal time for long-term investments of this nature. After repeatedly hampered by sporadic disturbances the Tourist Industry is looking forward to a steady growth for the first time in 20 years. Minister of Tourism Gamini Lokuge said that on behalf of the Government he was thankful to Muthumuni Nihal Jayantha de Silva for coming forward to invest in a venture of this nature and wish the new Ayurvedic Centre a prosperous time ahead serving the country. |
