Over 600 delegates, local and foreign will attend the annual Human Resources (HR) Conference and HR Service Providers Exhibition organised by the Institute of Personnel Management of Sri Lanka (IPM), scheduled to be held on June 12 and 13 at the BMICH.

During the Congress, a few foreign delegates will make presentations. Among them are President of the Singapore Human Resources Institute, Ms Geok Choo who is also a member of the Singapore Parliament. Ms Choo who will be the guest of honour during the proceedings will delivery the keynote address. The other foreign speakers will include Partha Chatterjee, President, National Institute of Personnel Management, Ms Judy Viteker, Director Membership of Education, Chartered Institute of Personnel Development UK and Dr. Sarath Delpachitra from the University of South Queensland, Australia.

The theme of this year's conference will be 'Creating a world class organisation through people'. President IPM, Janake Kumarasinghe said it was the contention of IPM to deliberate on the theme, more particularly in the light of the changes taking place around humankind. Today, HR plays an increasing strategic role in effective management of organisations, whether big or small. The guest panel at the CEOs Forum on the theme will comprise M. J. C. Amarasuriya, Chairman, Commercial Bank of Ceylon and United Motors,

S. Anan, CEO, Sri Lanka Telecom, Dev Ranasinghe, Managing Director, Body Line Ltd, U.A.C. Obeysekera, DGM, Human Resources and Administration, HNB, will be the moderator. Sri Lanka Telecom will be the strategic partner in this event.

The conference will also be a forum for HR professionals and others from diverse backgrounds, across countries, to benefit from today's thinking. They would then be in a better position to network globally, towards higher profit. The exhibition will house about 75 booths comprising local and foreign service providers.

Eminent speakers who have hands on experience in reputed companies are expected to generate a lively debate.
