Seven new records at Junior Athletic Meet

A total of seven meet records were lowered as Bishops College and Musaeus College tied for girls championship and St. Joseph's College, Colombo retained the boys title at the Sir John Tarbat Junior Athletic Championship organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association in association with the Central Province Schools Athletic Association and worked off at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.

In the championship for girls both Bishops College and Musaeus College tied with 95 points, the former was helped largely by winning the under 12, under-15 and the Girls Relay Championship while Musaeus College won only under-14 title but performed consistently in the other events to obtain places.

A total of seven new records were set up during the three-day meet in which 3,000 boys and girls athletes from 200 schools participated.
