LTTE expected to respond to PM's letter

The LTTE was last night expected to send a letter responding to the Prime Minister's suggestion to hold a meeting between the two parties and to iron out differences over the Government's proposed Apex Body for the North-East Development, LTTE sources said.

The details of the letter were not known as this edition went to press.

However LTTE sources said no change has been made regarding the Tigers' decision to boycott the Tokyo aid parley.

Meanwhile, the Upcountry People's Front leader and Minister T. Chandrasekaran is expected to meet LTTE political chief Thamilselvan today in Kilinochchi to discuss the current situation.

"The Minister will meet Thamilselvan and possibly Prabhakaran for a dialogue on means of resuming the talks," his spokesman told the Daily News.
