Milo champions Petes face moment of truth by Chris Dhambarage The reigning Milo 'A' division league champions St. Peter's College will face their moment of truth when they take on Trinity Collge Kandy in their inter school under 19 rugby match at Longden Place today. The Peterites are yet to meet any kind of stiff opposition in the current season and this will be real test for them after winning their two previous games quite convincingly against Carey College (29-5) and Nalanda (74-5). This match of course will not be considered as a tournament fixture because the Trinitians are competing in the Milo division two tournament. However the Peterites would like to maintain their high reputation and their unbeaten record this year by recording their third successive victory. They are hoping to retain the Milo 'A' division league title for the second successive year and are drawn in the top half along with Royal, Isipatana, St. Anthony's, Dharmaraja, Wesley and S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia. In contrast Trinity College are battling for the Milo division two league title together with Kegalu Maha Vidyalaya, Embilipitiya Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Seethawaka Madya Maha Vidyalaya and Sri Rahula MV. Even then the Trinitians will be determined to put up a good performance which would be a real morale booster for the rest of the season. But the odds seem to be heavily against them and have not beaten the Peterites for the past two years. St. Peter's won last years game 22-18 up in Pallekele and this time they are even more stronger with several senior players in their ranks. Trinity College in their only outing in the current season struggled in defeating their home town rivals Vidyartha 22-3. This time they are up against a more superior team and will have a daunting task in containing the Peterite three quarters. |
