LTTE not complying with SLMM ruling on sailor - SLMM Deputy Chief by Ranil Wijayapala The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission yesterday said the LTTE is violating the ceasefire agreement and shooting their own feet by not complying with SLMM rulings to release the sailor under the LTTE custody. The SLMM Deputy Chief Hagrup Haukland told the Daily News that the LTTE has refused to release the sailor but they are pressing the LTTE for the release of the sailor. "The LTTE agreed at the fifth round of peace talks in Hakone that they will comply with the rulings of the SLMM, but they are going against the agreement", Haukland added. The SLMM in Trincomalee two weeks back confirmed a sailor who was reported missing on May 13 is under the LTTE custody at Koddawan LTTE camp after being arrested. The LTTE has said they arrested this armed sailor while he was in their territory. |
