by Ranil Wijayapala The LTTE leadership was in the process of studying the proposals forwarded by the Government through the Norwegian facilitators and it will take another few days to comment on the proposals, an LTTE spokesman told the Daily News yesterday. The LTTE spokesman said the counter proposals by the Government reaction to their demand for an interim council will have to be discussed by the LTTE leader Prabhakaran, Chief Negotiator Dr. Anton Balasingham and Political Wing leader S.P. Thamil Selvan. However, the spokesman said that the LTTE's decision to re-enter the peace talks and the participation at the Tokyo donor conference will be reconsidered only if these counter proposals tally with their demands. The Norwegian delegation flew to Kilinochchi on Wednesday and handed over the proposals to LTTE Peace Secretariat Head S. Pulithevan and it was later handed over to the Political Wing leader S.P. Thamil Selvan. The proposals have also been sent to the LTTE Chief Negotiator Dr. Anton Balasingham in London through the Norwegian facilitators. The Government made its reactions to the LTTE's demand for an interim administration in the North East focusing on the development, rehabilitation and reconstruction needs of the North East. The structure proposed by the Government enables the LTTE to actively participate in the development, rehabilitation and reconstruction process. |
