CP Chief Minister dies

Central Province Chief Minister W.M.P.B. Dissanayake (76) passed away yesterday.

Dissanayake who was elected MP for Gampola at the 1977 General election resigned to contest the Central Provincial poll in 1988 and after victory was appointed Chief Minister.

He also functioned as leader of the opposition of the CP before once again assuming the office of the Chief Minister. The late Chief Minister was ailing for some time.
